Bilingual co-determination put on the agenda
Yesterday UPP, represented by Lieke Schrijvers and Maranke Wieringa, participated in the election debate organized in the Academiegebouw. We were happy to meet and spar with the other candidates. Lieke and Maranke made a statement by discussing with the other candidates in English, for the benefit of the international attendents in the audience.
UPP believes that co-determination within an university as international as ours, needs to be accessible to non-Dutch speakers as well. Everyone has a right to participate in and be informed about co-determination within their organization. The election debate is a taste of what is to come in the university council. We strive towards making the policy documents and the meetings accessible for internationals by conducting those meetings in English.
